Makes: approximately 10 - 12 cups
Prep time: 10 minutes (plus 20 minutes simple syrup cooling time)
What you'll need:
Step 1:
Measure 1 1/2 cups of sugar and set aside.
Boil (or microwave) 2 cups of water.
Very carefully add the sugar to the boiling water to make simple syrup and stir until completely dissolved.
Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to cool down.
Caution: Add the sugar slowly to the hot water and stir while adding.
The water may bubble as your adding it so don't get splashed by hot water.
Step 2:
Extract the juice from 6 lemons. They should yield about 2 cups of juice.
Tip: If you don't already have a juicer you can buy a very inexpensive one for less than $10 like the one in the picture on the right.
If you make this lemonade recipe a couple times a year it will pay for itself.
Step 3:
In a large jug or pitcher combine the lemon juice, cooled sugar/water mixture, 6 cups of cold water, lemon slices (from 1 lemon) and ice.
Stir well to mix.
Sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of this fantastic ice-cold lemonade.
